Heat is measured when usable

The waste heat of a nearby plant may appear to be a first-sight greenhouse energy source. However, the decision must be understood when, in what condition and with what certainty it is available. The annual aggregate heat quantity may cover the maintenance or production stop of the plant coincides with the heat demand of the horticultural plant. The investor therefore requests a time comparison, not only annual data. The typical days, seasons and periods of closure of the spring and the growing house shall be added together. This can show you where heat can be used directly, where you need further solutions, and where the source is just theoretical.

There is also a technical limit for connection

The available heat source is not yet ready for greenhouse heating. The transfer point, the available operational status, the connecting trail and the requirements of the consumer system shall be specified. Equipment for heat transfer, distribution and measurement shall be fitted to the conditions of both parties. In the planning process, it is also necessary to examine what happens if the source performance changes partially. M WUR and Dalsem its integrated energy memory gives a professional background to this, but the suitability for a specific connection can be justified by a local plan and data. A nominal source capacity does not replace the commitment at the point of accession.

Do not confine the shutdown retrospectively

The supply agreement should separate planned maintenance and unexpected loss. In both cases, the garden industry may need a different preparation. It is clear who indicates the failure of the operator to receive information and who decides on the different operations of internal zones. The reserve shall be assigned to the actual production risk. A short interruption of service, a several-day outage and a final change in energy source are not the same scenario. It is appropriate to document the events affecting the heat supply, as it is only possible to examine later the consequences of an external change to the operation of the production house.

The recovery is shown by own measurement

The operational assessment shall treat separately the energy available at source, transferred at connection and used in cultivation. The data provided without system boundaries do not reveal the loss or additional use associated with the solution. The investment comparison shall include the same production period and target state as the one under consideration. For this purpose, the measurement sites and log states can be pre-selected. The recovery of waste heat can be properly assessed if the technical plan, supply system and local operation describe the same link. The proximity alone does not answer these questions.

The summer and winter situation may differ

In comparison, it may be useful to examine separately the planned end of the spring during the summer and a short loss of winter. The same interruption of supply may result in different organisational tasks according to the production calendar. The operating plan should therefore include, in addition to the spare capacity, the producer's choice options. Which zone will continue to operate, where can the target state be changed and who should be notified? Responses shall also be consulted with the source operator. The two parties therefore understand the same available data, not merely referring to different annual average data.

Questions to reconcile the project

  • When does the heat source change from the heat demand of the production house?
  • What condition and notification arrangements are being taken at the transfer point?
  • Where can heat taken over and associated additional energy consumption be measured separately?
